Whitney Houston on the Set of SPARKLE, One of Her Last Movie Interviews Before She Died

SPARKLE WHITNEY HOUSTON INTERVIEW (Video) – Before Whitney Houston died on February 11, 2012, she finished filming her last movie, Sparkle. In the movie she plays Emma who’s three daughters become a hit Motown girls group. In the interview Houston talks about her character, the three actresses playing her daughters, singing gospel and the movie itself.

“Being born and raised in the gospel community, coming from a family of gospel singers, it was not new to me to sing gospel or sing with a choir. It is very natural to me. In some ways more natural than popular music because that is where my foundation is. So it was not a new adventure, it was just coming home.” – Whitney Houston

PLOT: Musical prodigy, Sparkle (Jordin Sparks) struggles to become a star while overcoming issues that are tearing her family apart. From an affluent Detroit area and daughter to a single mother (Whitney Houston), she tries to balance a new romance with music manager, Stix (Derek Luke) while dealing with the unexpected challenges her new life will bring as she and her two sisters (Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter) strive to become a dynamic singing group during the Motown-era.
