“There’s the element that you have all these parts how can you possibly bring them together, they don’t seem to coexist and ultimately that’s what made me go ‘oh this can be done and this should be done, these people don’t belong together these people wouldn’t get along’ and as soon as that really sort of came into focus I realized that I actually have something to say about these people” – Joss Whedon
“Hes the same character as he was in Thor, hes this scientist that had been employed by S.H.I.E.L.D. now to work on the Tesseract.” – Stellan Skarsgård
“She works with S.H.I.E.L.D. and she’s very intelligent, highly trained and very capable and I kinda like the idea that she’s like this women in a mans world, and I think that she’s extremely by the book and I think that’s hurting her because she’s working with a men who’s sort of works outside the rules and I feel like that dynamic is in this movie a lot.” – Cobie Smulders
“The real focus of S.H.I.E.L.D. is about developing the Tesseract and find a way to use that vast power and so suddenly this idea of the Avengers becomes not just appealing but necessary.” – Clark Gregg
