THE CAMPAIGN JAY ROACH POLITICS (Exclusive Interview) – Director Jay Roach, who has brought us comedies like Austin Powers and Meet the Parents, has a new political comedy starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis called The Campaign. We sat down with Roach to ask him about his true life fascination with modern American politics and politicians who use religion to get elected.
On having made political movies before:
“It helps to have the background of Game Change and Recount to know a little bit of how the real version (politics) works, so you can start with that and then exaggerate it.”
On politicians:
“You find yourself talking about things that were on television the night before or you read in the paper about what a politician said to another person… It is interesting to make films about things people are concerned about right now.”
