PACIFIC RIM JAEGAR FEATURETTE (Video) – Ever wonder how these massive robots in Pacific Rim made it onto the big screen? Thanks to director Guillermo Del Toro, now we get to see the inner workings of a Jaegar, the machine operated by two human pilots. In order to convey a sense of realness, Del Toro decided to build the head of the robot to limit the amount of green screen and special effects used in the film. The entire set for the head was about four stories high and it was able to move around to create the robot’s walking effect. The actors were also attached to weighted machinery to mimic the resisted movements of the pilots. Check out what Del Toro calls his “little amusement park simulator.” Pacific Rim stars Charles Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman.

CRIMSON PEAK CASTING – Do any of these people take a break? After finishing Pacific Rim, director Guillermo del Toro is moving forward with Crimson Peak, a haunted house movie that he penned. He will reunite with Charlie Hunnam from Pacific Rim, and Emma Stone is also joining the mix. Now, Benedict Cumberbatch makes the list, but no word yet on their characters or the plot. Shooting is to start next year, so we’re all going to have to practice patience.

PACIFIC RIM CHARLIE DAY – At WonderCon this weekend, director Guillermo Del Toro spoke about Charlie Day’s performance in Pacific Rim. He says that throughout the movie he “looks like Rick Moranis, J.J. Abrams and a short brother of Bradley Cooper.” The reason why Day was cast was in the movie is because Del Toro is a fan of the TV series, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which Day stars in, and believes him to be sort of a “punk rock scientist, like a Buddy Holly geek.” In the panel a new trailer was shown and it features Charlie Day’s Dr. Newton Geiszler, who is an expert on Kaiju and acts as a collector of their parts. The movie also stars Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Hunnam, and Ron Perlman.
