SUMMER MOVIE FRANCHISES – The summer of 2012 was filled with many blockbusters, but only a few will be made into franchises. Grossing $303 million globally, Prometheus will be getting a follow-up, and director Ridley Scott is ready for it, along with stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace. The sequel is planned to be released either in 2014 or 2015. Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man has grossed over $620 million, and a sequel has already been dated for May 2014. However, due to Webb’s obligation to Fox, he may or may not return for Sony’s reboot of the webbed slinger’s story. Even though Will Smith took a long break the big screen, Men in Black 3 still proved to be a hit, nearly grossing $620 million worldwide. There is a big chance that the franchise will be another sequel or so. Surprisingly, Ted may also be getting a sequel, but it all depends on Seth MacFarlane, the writer and director of the comedy.
