THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES – Director Harald Zwart and screenwriters Jessica Postigo and I. Marlene King are working with Screen Gems to bring Novelist Cassandra Clare‘s #1 best-selling book series The Mortal Instruments to the big screen, beginning with its first installment, City of Bones. The action/fantasy drama is set in New York City and follows the life of teenager Clary Fray, a half-angel warrior, classified as a Shadowhunter, that is locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After her mother disappears, Clary finds herself joining forces with a group of Shadowhunters whom introduce her to a world of supernatural beings unimaginable to the human race in the dangerous alternate New York called Downworld. The film will star Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror), Jaime Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street), Jemima West, Kevin Durand (Robin Hood), Robert Maillet (Sherlock Holmes), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Jared Harris (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), and Godfrey Gao.
PLOT: When her mom is attacked and taken from their home in New York City by a demon, a seemingly ordinary teenage girl, Clary Fray, finds out truths about her past and bloodline on her quest to get her back, that changes her entire life.
