RIVIERA MAYA FILM FESTIVAL (Video) – The first edition of the Riviera Maya Film Festival has been a big success with filmmakers, residents and tourists alike.   Envisaged as a forum where cinema and tourism meet to foster ecological and social awareness, the festival kicked off with environmental activist Ethan Hawke and came to a close with social activist Susan Sarandon.   Clive Owen and co-star Pilar Lopez de Ayala were also on hand  in support of their closing night film Intruders directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

Opening with Christophe Honoré‘s  film Beloved, the Riviera Maya Film Festival ran from March 20 through the 25th in several venues from Cancun to Tulum along Mexico’s pristine Caribbean coast.  The festival showcased more than sixty films from around the world including works by Werner Herzog, Hari Sama and Wim Wenders.
