THE DARK KNIGHT RISES GIVEAWAY (Video) – Still number one at the box office, The Dark Knight Rises continues to impress audiences with it’s story and effects. However when it comes to effects, director Christopher Nolan prefers to use real people instead of computer generated one whenever possible. He did just that in the Gotham Rogue scenes where Bane (Tom Hardy) wrecks havoc in the stadium. So how did Nolan get twelve thousand extras to come out and dress in winter clothing in the middle of hundred degree summer weather?
Well one one is to give away iPads and a car in a raffle.. They also had the Tumbler show up, even though it wasn’t being filmed at the stadium.
“It’s not uncommon to have five hundred extras at the start of the day, and have only two hundred by the middle.” co-producer Jordan Goldberg said. “For this scene in Pittsburgh, we needed more than ten thousand extras, and if a half or a third of them left by midday, we would have been in real trouble, because we were in a football stadium and everyone was going to be in view. But it was a tough order to expect thousands of people to stick around for a whole long day of shooting.”
