TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE ROBERT LORENZ INTERVIEW (Exclusive) – Directed by Robert Lorenz, Trouble with the Curve, follows Gus Lobel (Clint Eastwood), one of the best scouts in baseball for decades who’s age is quickly catching up to him despite his efforts to hide it. The movie centers around the idea that Gus refuses to be benched for what may be the final innings of his career. The movie also stars Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Robert Patrick, Matthew Lillard, Scott Eastwood and Joe Massingill. ScreenSlam sat down with Robert Lorenz, who spoke about working with Clint Eastwood, the story, the relationships in the movie and the characters.
On the story:
“A simple but unique story and it called for a rather traditional storytelling technique, so it doesn’t have a lot of razzle dazzle, so it lives or dies on whether the characters are real and believable and that the audience connects with them.”
On the movies characters:
“The characters in there are dealing with human issues and life issues that we all deal with and we all have to find are own way and life throws you a curve and you have to figure out how your going to handle it.”
PLOT: An ailing baseball scout in his twilight years takes his daughter along for one last recruiting trip.
