12 YEARS A SLAVE PLOT – Director and screenwriter Steve McQueen (Shame) is working with screenwriter John Ridley (Undercover Brother) to bring the autobiography of Soloman Northrup to life as a big screen drama entitled 12 Years A Slave. The movie will be based on the 1853 autobiography of the kidnapping of Northrup (Chiwetel Ejiofor, Children of Men) in Washington DC. In 1841 Northrup was forced to work as a cotton plantation slave in Louisiana for 12 years before he was rescued and turned into a free man. The movie will star actors Brad Pitt (Money Ball), Michael Fassbender (Prometheus), Paul Giamatti (Sideways), Chiwetel Ejiofor, Garret Dillahunt (No Country for Old Men), Benedict Cumberbatch (War Horse), Sarah Paulson (Serenity), Scoot McNairy (Monsters), Ruth Negga (Breakfast on Pluto), Alfre Woodard (Primal Fear), and Michael Kenneth Williams (The Road).
PLOT: A man living in New York during the mid-1800s is kidnapped and sold into slavery in the deep south.
