THE WATCH BEN STILLER RICHARD AYOADE INTERVIEW (Exclusive Video) – Over the weekend we were able to sit down with The Watch stars Ben Stiller and Richard Ayoade. Starting off Ben and Richard told us what the true focus of the movie is:
“The focus of the movie was just the relationship and the people and the comedy more than anything.” – Ben Stiller
“When a character is funny in a film, you don’t want them to change too much or the reason why they are funny goes away. And then you get that thing that sometimes happens when everyone just stops being funny at the end of the film.” – Richard Ayoade
“Also in life, people don’t change that much. I mean people change maybe gradually but usual not over the course of a movie.” – Ben Stiller
With The Watch being Richard’s first big budget movie, we asked Ben if he taught Richard on the movie set.
“I feel no responsibility for Richard. I feel like Richard has to go out and make it on his own. I think the coddling and support of young actors and comedians, it hurts them more than it helps them. It’s a tough world out there and they should learn. So I gave him no advice on the set.” – Ben Stiller
“This is the closest I’ve been allowed to Ben. It is so hard to see just the sight of your face. ” – Richard Ayoade
Finally Ben pitched our audience to go see the movie by saying this strong endorsement:
This is exactly like The Avengers, only more.” – Ben Stiller
